Southampton Football Club has been recognised for its dedication to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Southampton Football Club has been awarded Advance level by the Premier League for its ongoing commitment and dedication to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
The announcement comes as the club launches Red, White and You, an initiative to bring all of its EDI work together under one banner. The aim is to be braver and continue progressing in this space to improve the lives of underrepresented groups in the city.
This is the second time the Premier League has recognised the club with this award, having first been presented with the Advance level of the Premier League quality, Diversity and Inclusion Standard (PLEDIS) in 2020.
The award, which is a result of work done over the last three years during the club’s time in the Premier League, was given following a rigorous and in-depth assessment by an expert panel in September, scrutinising evidence that was submitted across all aspects of the club including staff, supporters, players and participants.
Speaking about the award and the launch of Red, White and You, Southampton FC Director of HR, Michelle Butler said:
“As someone who’s been involved in the club’s Diversity and Inclusion work since the start of this journey, I’m extremely proud of the positive change that’s been achieved. From providing education to players within our Academy, tackling violence against women and girls, embedding the women’s team within the club and the creation of our Inclusion Advisory Board. We know this work will never be finished and we’ll continue this journey.
As we launch Red, White and You and look towards the future, we’re going to be even braver in this space and really narrow our focus on specific areas of the club and underserved groups.”
Red, White and You
The Red, White and You initiative has been launched as a clearly identifiable banner for all the EDI work carried out by Southampton Football Club.
Its aim is to allow the club to speak more openly about its work in this space and use its platform as an important presence in the city of Southampton to build awareness of EDI topics, challenge discrimination and inappropriate behaviour and remove barriers to inclusion.
