The Diageo North America brand will become Angel City’s founding and exclusive spirits partner in a three-year deal.
The partnership marks Jane Walker’s first entry into the sports industry. Terms were not disclosed.
As part of the agreement, Angel City will produce a Jane Walker content series “that showcases the incredible firsts the team has achieved to-date.”
In addition, custom Jane Walker and Johnnie Walker gameday cocktails will be made available at the team’s venue, Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, when the club begins play in 2022.
“Jane Walker by Johnnie Walker is proud to sign on as ACFC’s official spirits partner so we can celebrate their many achievements and help fuel and ignite everything they hope to achieve in the future,” said Sophie Kelly, senior vice president of whiskies, Diageo North America.
“We are thrilled to join them on this journey and continue to mark these moments together for their incredible LA fan base and beyond,” Kelly said.
The two parties will collaborate to reallocate a portion of the value of their sponsorship to help create more opportunities for women to achieve their goals, via the women-owned business funding marketplace, IFundWomen.
The partnership will also provide grant funding to Los Angeles-based businesses identified in collaboration with Angel City.
Angel City FC has drawn significant notice around the industry, in part through a star-studded ownership group that includes actresses Natalie Portman, Eva Longoria, and Jennifer Garner; iconic athletes such as Serena Williams, Billie Jean King and Abby Wambach; and entrepreneurs Alexis Ohanian and Julie Uhrman, among many others.
The team also has sponsorship deals with the likes of Sprouts Farmers Market, Birdies, DoorDash, and Therabody.
