This iteration of Soccerex Connected brought together an even wider-spread audience than the first, with 2,500+ delegates representing 106 countries from all over the globe. Soccerex Connected attendees gained access to five days of unrivalled insight in the form of panel discussions, roundtables and our newly introduced Team Talk sessions. Topics ranged from stadia, performance and governance, to broadcasting, marketing and more, and included a look back on the history of the beautiful game with a special Soccerex Heritage session at the end of each day.
The week kicked off with an opening welcome from Soccerex Chairman Joe DaGrosa, after which LaLiga President Javier Tebas and Univision President of Sports, Juan Carlos Rodriguez offered their thoughts on the current state of the game. Following this stellar opening, each day provided its own standout moments – from Howard Webb, General Manager of Pro Referees, discussing the use of VAR in the game and its strengths and limitations, to Mesut Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut dismissing the need for players to sign boot deals with the likes of Adidas and Nike, and eluded to a future release of a Mesut Ozil brand of football boot, the conference was packed full of exclusive insight and information. All of the sessions from the second edition of Soccerex Connected will be available on our YouTube channel next week.
In addition to the 11,000+ unique stream views throughout the insightful content across all five days, Soccerex Connected attendees made over 6,500 contacts via the event platform, and sent over 13,500 messages between each other, truly making this the most connected football business event in recent history. In addition to the use of the event platform, attendees engaged with Soccerex on social media as well, creating over 400,000 impressions on twitter in the space of five days, whether that be tweeting about the sessions themselves, or getting involved with the daily signed football shirt giveaways.
Philip Gegan, Soccerex’s Managing Director, spoke on the success of the second iteration of Soccerex Connected:
“This event was an incredible manifestation of the work that we – and the wider industry – are undertaking to protect and grow the beautiful game even in the toughest of circumstances.
Our Soccerex Team instituted a number of improvements to ensure the platform better fulfilled our goals of connecting all of football’s stakeholders with their peers and vital insights and their success on this front is borne out by the figures; attendance up by a quarter, countries represented up by a half, interactions and coverage up by even greater volumes are incredible achievements.
Of course, without the attendees, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors we wouldn’t have an event at all and so a huge thank you to all who joined with us at our 50th event – a double milestone as we are in our 25th anniversary year.
We look forward to welcoming you all again to Soccerex soon.”
