Camp Nou continues be part of the golden history of the women’s football team as what seemed an impossible task has been achieved. Some 91,648 culers turned up to see the Champions League semi final first leg against Wolfsburg on Friday, setting yet another world attendance record for women’s football. The previous record, set just 23 days ago, came at the same venue in the quarter final of the same competition against Real Madrid.

As happened on 30 March when the crowd of 91,553 beat the previous record of 90,185 set in the 1999 World Cup final between the US and China, the stands were full with a young, family atmosphere prevalent as the fans gave the team their undying support.

The weather played its part with the rain that has plagued the city of Barcelona all week holding off. Fans kicked off the party outside the ground, giving the coach bringing the players to Camp Nou a tremendous welcome.

The festival atmosphere began hours before kick off when old and young were able to enjoy the different activities set up by the Club in the areas outside the ground. The Espai Urban with the Skate Park had professionals skaters showing off their skills, with 3 a side basketball and futsal areas also set as well simracing, face painting, women’s table football, panna, snoorkball and live music.
