ENGLISH GOVERNING BODIES TURN UP THE SUPPORTER PRESSURE

The quest for supporters to be welcome within English stadia continues and with a united front now forming, there is a hope but not yet an expectation, that soon the UK government will eventually bow to such pressure. Pressure that has come via a number of different mediums, none more so than a petition that has recently collected as many as 125,000 signatures, as the clamour to ‘Let Fans In’ grows with each weekend that passes.

As the latest editions of both the Champions League and Europa League get underway, there is a sense of normality creeping back into the UEFA governed game and with some stadia even granted the ability to host supporters, the show is very much going on in terms of European football. While it is a show that will undergo something of a cosmetic tweak next season, as two midweek club competitions once again becomes three and with the arrival of the Europa Conference League on the horizon, a feast of continental action is set to be served.

WAS THE PREMIER LEAGUE’S DECISION TO SCRAP PPV AN ACT OF GOODWILL?

The response to the Premier League’s decision to begin putting matches behind a paywall from football fans across the United Kingdom was typical. That’s not to say it wasn’t also justified, but the usual hullabaloo of indignation followed with fans taking to social media to vent at the powers that be for trying to make money out of them by making them pay £14.95 to watch their team play.
